Privacy Policy
Version 4.0 · Effective 26 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Riftly (“Riftly”, “the Software”, “we”, “us”) handles, and how. Please read it together with the EULA included alongside the Software.
1. Summary
- Your audio stays on your device. Audio you record or load is analysed locally and is never uploaded to us.
- Riftly collects limited, anonymous usage analytics and automatic crash diagnostics to help us fix problems and improve the app. These contain no audio, no file contents, and no personal identifiers. You can turn analytics off in the app’s settings.
- Signing in to a Riftly account, and checking your plan, uses a third-party authentication and database provider, and involves the email address (or Google sign-in) you choose to register with.
- A small amount of data is stored only on your own device (Section 4).
2. What we do and don’t collect
We DO collect:
- Anonymous usage events — for example, that a recording or export occurred, and coarse, bucketed measures such as approximate session length. These are linked only to a random, anonymous identifier generated on your device, never to your name or email.
- Automatic crash diagnostics when the app encounters a fault, with personal fields removed before they are sent.
- The account email or sign-in identifier you provide when you create or log in to an account, used solely to authenticate you and to determine your subscription plan.
We do NOT collect:
- Your audio. Recordings, loaded files, and any detected keys, tempos, or notes are processed locally and are never transmitted to us.
- The contents of your files, your file paths, or your sample library.
- Your microphone or system audio outside an active session.
3. Analytics & diagnostics — your choice
Usage analytics are provided through a third-party analytics service and can be disabled at any time in the app’s settings. Crash diagnostics are provided through a third-party diagnostics service to help us identify and fix faults; reports are stripped of personal fields. Neither includes any audio or file content.
4. Data stored locally on your device
Riftly stores the following on your computer only:
- Recordings and exports you choose to save, in a location you pick.
- An analysed-sample library and your app settings.
- If you sign in, a secured local session so that you stay logged in.
This data stays on your device. You may delete it at any time, and the Software does not synchronise it to us.
5. Accounts & authentication
Creating or signing in to a Riftly account is handled on our behalf by a third-party authentication and database provider. We use it only to verify your identity and your subscription plan. The email address or sign-in identifier you provide is processed for that purpose. You may sign out at any time.
6. Microphone & system audio
With your permission, Riftly uses your microphone or your system audio only while you have an active recording or live session running. Captured audio is held in memory and discarded when the session ends, unless you choose to save or export it. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your operating system’s privacy settings.
7. Children
Riftly is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold (such as your account email). To exercise those rights, or to ask any privacy question, contact us at the address below.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by a new Effective date.
